Combating fear and making it easier to speak up
Employees now have a wide range of reporting options.
SCC’s whistleblowing policy and service are promoted through induction packs, internal recruitment packs, posters and the Council’s intranet system.
SCC is giving its employees every opportunity to be made aware of the external hotline and how to use it if they do have a concern they would like to raise.
SCC is now able to identify trends in whistleblowing reporting, allowing them to more easily focus resources on investigating “hot spot” areas and adjusting policies and training procedures where necessary.
Bespoke data protection
Identities of the whistleblowers are protected and reports are sent to SCC in accordance to their own rigorous data protection standards.
Guidance provided by Expolink has enabled SCC to create a solution that enabled openness and transparency with the public, without compromising sensitive data.
Communication of policies
The whistleblowing hotline has provided insight on how policies are interpreted and understood by SCC’s employees.
In some cases, disclosures made through the hotline have prompted the Council to amend its communications and policies.
Customisation of the hotline service to meet SCC’s needs means it fits naturally with existing policies and organisational needs.
The hotline itself requires minimal administrative resource from SCC’s internal team, thanks to its simplicity and ease of use.
